We are an alliance of Greater Waco Community leaders in education, government, business, non-profits, health care and foundations who are strategically aligning resources to engage the community to create, lead and implement plans that ensure all students' educational achievement of the community.
The Education Alliance stems from the Waco Community Visioning Project. The Alliance began informally in early 2006 as a group of community leaders setting goals and objectives for Waco's educational future. What came out of these discussions was the first Annual Education Summit in 2008, which was a forum to connect educators with community stakeholders, leaders and teams to present ideas and issues and get feedback from the community. The Greater Waco Community Education Alliance was formalized in 2009 to ensure that the community energy developed through conversations at these Summits was maintained throughout the year to address education goals.
Mission: to develop an understanding that the entire community shares responsibility for educating every citizen.
